"As for having to clean the Stonehenge dirt from beneath my fingernails before writing each chapter, I am no different to every other author on the subject in having to rely on the records of archeologists long since dead or the interpretation of their records by later archeologists. Solving the mystery on the basis of this evidence is no more the science of archeology per se than judging a crime is forensic science and, as an author, all I can do is to play my part by presenting a case on which you, the reader, can make a judgment. While I leave you in no doubt as to the innocence of the Neolithic farmers you must ask yourself why those placed in charge of the investigation are so determined to convince us of otherwise and unless we are to believe them incompetent, could the reason be a misplaced sense of pride, to keep Stonehenge a truly British monument, or is the truth simply beyond belief?
