The Guardians have been trying to keep the peace between themselves and humans for over a decade. Rogues ran rampant and brought their attention to them, and now it's on the brink of a major war. If vampires protect themselves, then they risk killing off most of their blood supply.
They could hand over the vampire responsible for all the deaths, but that posed a problem. Would Sasha comply to save her species, or will her heart get in the way?
Was it possible to have peace after all the suffering inflicted to both sides?
