Astrology and Psychological Types
Michael Kiyoshi SalvatoreFollowing the publication of Psychological Types, C. G. Jung often distanced himself from popular applications of typological theory, calling its use as a classification system “a childish parlour game.”60 While Jung’s research and writing published after Psychological Types largely focused on elucidating more esoteric and mystical subjects, he continued to use his typological theories in his private practice, still finding it integral in his understanding of psychology and spirit. In carrying forward the use of mystical models of consciousness with the more exoteric, I hope my work, with its tentative hypotheses and limited scope, shows psychological types’ promise for fruitful future research in correspondence with astrological archetypes.
